Children & Youth

Benn’s Youth Group is for middle school and high school students. This active youth group meets on Sundays in the Youth "Fish Tank" Room #100. Come join us and invite a friend!

We have exciting news about our Youth group! Starting in September, Keith Royston will be our new youth group coordinator for Benn's! Keith, who is the father of Reagan and Bryce Royston, has stepped forward to assume this role and we are grateful! We will return to the traditional name, Benn's United Methodist Youth Fellowship, (UMYF). The goals will be to foster youth participation in the life of the church, participate in community service events, schedule "fun" activities both on site at church and off campus, and provide devotional/worship time as a group. The youth will take turns providing the devotional during meetings while the parents will help planning events and assisting with the regular meetings, so we meet the requirements of our Safer Sanctuaries policy. If you would like to take on a role such as food planning, coordinating devotional/worship time, organizing off site activities, please let us know!

These youth enjoy fellowship, planned activities and enjoy making a difference in their community and world through mission projects. 

Annually in the summer, we offer kid friendly interactive themes for Vacation Bible School. They are a fun way for elementary children to learn of God’s love for them and learn the importance of helping and serving others. 

There are many volunteering opportunities for older youth and adults alike.

Children are welcome to stay for the duration of the service or they can go to nursery/child care. Nursery care is for infants and toddlers and located in room 107. Older children, generally ages 3-5 meet together in room 102 and can be divided as necessary for age appropriate activities.

The value of each child is recognized and is sacred to both the preschool and the church family at Benn's UMC.  Each child will be treated as an individual and with respect.

We have bright and cheerful child friendly classrooms.

Preschool children learn best through play and by participating in activities which are developmentally appropriate.  Children will leave our program with the skills to thrive in kindergarten.  Skills such as cutting, proper pencil holding, recognizing the alphabet, shapes and colors.  Generous time will be allowed daily for children to choose their own activities and playmates.  The daily schedule also includes group time in language, math, music and science skills.
